🇪🇸 Puerta del Sol

Puerta del Sol · 마드리드

Location

Overview

Puerta del Sol is a broad square at the heart of Madrid's old town, home to the 'Kilometre Zero' plaque that marks the origin point of Spain's national road network and, symbolically, the centre of the country. Originally one of the city's medieval gates, it took its current semicircular form between 1857 and 1862 and is now ringed by shops, cafés and street performers. A recent overhaul turned it into a car-free pedestrian plaza that is pleasant to stroll.
