Location

Overview

Plaza de Cibeles is Madrid's iconic roundabout square where Calle de Alcalá, Paseo del Prado and Paseo de Recoletos meet. At its center stands the neoclassical Cibeles Fountain (completed 1782), depicting the earth goddess Cybele on a lion-drawn chariot, ringed by four landmark buildings: the Cibeles Palace (now City Hall), Linares Palace, the Bank of Spain and Buenavista Palace. It is also famous as the gathering point for Real Madrid title celebrations.
