🇰🇷 Unhyeongung (Unhyeon Palace)

서울 종로구

Location

Overview

Unhyeongung was the private residence of Heungseon Daewongun, father of King Gojong, the 26th ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, and the home where Gojong grew up before ascending the throne. It is best known as the site of the royal wedding of Gojong and Empress Myeongseong, and preserves late-Joseon aristocratic hanok halls such as Noandang, Noraktang, and Irodang. Sitting right beside Anguk Station in central Seoul, it is free to enter and far quieter than the four major grand palaces.
