Salzburg Cathedral (Salzburger Dom) is the early-Baroque cathedral on Domplatz in the heart of Salzburg's Old Town, designed by architect Santino Solari and consecrated in 1628 after Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich razed the medieval church that stood before it. Often called the first early-Baroque church north of the Alps, it is famous for its mighty dome, twin marble towers and Untersberg-marble facade. Music lovers make a pilgrimage here to see the font where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized in 1756. In 2026 it remains a working cathedral with regular Mass as well as a visitor site, sitting at the center of the UNESCO-listed Old Town.
