🇦🇹 Mozart's Birthplace

Mozarts Geburtshaus · 잘츠부르크

Location

Overview

Mozart's Birthplace is the yellow building at Getreidegasse 9 on Salzburg's most famous street, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on the third floor on 27 January 1756. The Mozart family lived in this Hagenauer house from 1747 to 1773, and since 1880 it has been run as a museum by the International Mozarteum Foundation, making it one of the most visited attractions in Austria. As of 2026 the permanent exhibition is fully open (closed 13-14 October for internal renovation) and follows Mozart's childhood, family life, and passion for opera across three floors in a visit of roughly one hour.
