Overview

The London Eye is a 135-metre observation wheel on the South Bank of the Thames that has been one of London's defining landmarks since it opened in 2000. Its 32 sealed glass capsules complete a single, slow rotation in about 30 minutes, giving sweeping panoramas over Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and much of the city skyline, which is why it ranks as a signature themed experience. In spring 2026 the attraction marked its 26th anniversary, with upgraded LED lighting that syncs to seasonal events and lights up the riverside after dark. Time your visit for daytime cityscapes or a sunset-and-night-lights ride for the best views.
