🇵🇱 Wrocław Dwarfs (Krasnale)

Krasnale wrocławskie · 브로츠와프

Location

Overview

The Wrocław Dwarfs (Krasnale) are small bronze figurines, roughly 20–30 cm tall, tucked at ankle level on sidewalks, walls and ledges across the city, densest in the Old Town. They grew out of the 1980s Orange Alternative, an anti-communist movement that resisted the regime with humour and art; the first five figurines by Tomasz Moczek were installed in August 2005, and the collection has expanded steadily — the 1,000th dwarf was unveiled in September 2025 and by 2026 the count is estimated at around 1,040. With no fixed route, visiting is a free, open-air treasure hunt: grab a map or the official app and spot as many as you can, which makes it one of Wrocław's most beloved attractions.

Practical info

The highest concentration is around the Old Town Market Square (Rynek), about a 15–20 minute walk or a short tram ride from Wrocław Główny main station. The figurines are a free, permanent outdoor display with no set opening hours, but prices and hours for the tourist-office paper map, the official app (Krasnal Wrocław) and guided tours should be checked for the latest information.
