🇩🇪 Viktualienmarkt

Viktualienmarkt · 뮌헨

Location

Overview

The Viktualienmarkt is Munich's iconic open-air food market, held daily since 1807 in the heart of the Old Town just steps from Marienplatz. Spread across roughly 22,000 square metres, its 140 or so stalls sell fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, flowers, spices and Bavarian specialities, while a central beer garden under old chestnut trees and the blue-and-white maypole (Maibaum) give it a village feel in the middle of the city. In 2026 it remains a lively everyday market frequented by locals and visitors alike, free to wander and perfect for grazing on snacks or enjoying a beer.

The nearest station is Marienplatz (U3 and U6 plus every S-Bahn line), about 200 m and a 2–4 minute walk from the market; the square itself is open around the clock.
