🇨🇿 St. Vitus Cathedral

Katedrála svatého Víta · 프라하

Location

Overview

St. Vitus Cathedral, set within the grounds of Prague Castle, is the largest and most important church in the Czech Republic — a Gothic masterpiece begun in 1344 under Emperor Charles IV and only completed in 1929, spanning almost 600 years of construction. As the seat of the Archbishop of Prague and the coronation and burial church of Bohemian kings, it is regarded as the spiritual heart of the Czech state and one of Prague's most visited landmarks. In 2026 it remains open to visitors, though sightseeing is suspended during Mass and liturgical services, and the interior is toured as part of the Prague Castle circuit ticket. Come prepared to admire its stained glass, royal tombs, and the chamber of the Crown Jewels.
