The Lennon Wall is a graffiti-covered garden wall of the Order of Malta's Grand Priory on Velkopřevorské náměstí (Grand Priory Square) in Prague's Malá Strana (Lesser Town). After John Lennon's murder in December 1980, his portrait and song lyrics appeared here, and under communism it became a symbol of freedom and youthful dissent; today it still changes daily with messages left by visitors from around the world. A 2019 renovation by the Order of Malta and Prague 1 declared it a memorial site and added a Lennon portrait and the word 'FREEDOM' written in 30 languages, and an April 2025 happening for its 45th anniversary repainted three Lennon portraits (from 1980, 2020 and 2022). Free and just a 5-minute walk from Charles Bridge, it makes an easy stop on any Lesser Town or Kampa Island stroll.

SafetyThe Charles Bridge–Malá Strana area sees Prague's heaviest pickpocketing. Wear your bag in front and keep your phone and wallet in hand even while taking photos.
RulesSpray paint is banned. You may only add to the designated white spaces with pencil, marker or chalk, and painting over the central Lennon portrait or existing artworks is not allowed.
MannersThe French Embassy faces the wall and the square is a quiet residential spot. Keep noise down and don't block the narrow lane for long photo sessions.
CautionStreet money-changers and unlicensed taxis routinely overcharge. Change money at official offices, use trams/metro or the Bolt app, and buy transit tickets from machines or the PID Lítačka app.
SeasonSummer midday brings heavy crowds and heat; early morning or dusk is best for photos and calm. Winters are cold and the lanes can be slippery, so dress warmly.
SafetyThe wall is open 24/7 but the lane is dimly lit at night. After dark, stick to the well-lit main streets toward Charles Bridge and avoid empty side alleys.
