Shinsekai is a retro entertainment district in southern Osaka, laid out in 1912, centered on Tsutenkaku Tower, a roughly 103-meter steel landmark rebuilt in 1956. Its alleys are packed with kushikatsu (deep-fried skewer) shops and vintage arcades that preserve a distinctly mid-20th-century Showa-era atmosphere, while the tower's observatory offers 360-degree views out to Osaka Bay and Abeno Harukas.
