Overview
The Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau (Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site) is the world's largest Art Nouveau (Modernisme) complex, set in Barcelona's Guinardo district a short walk from the Sagrada Familia. Designed by architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner from 1902, it organizes richly tiled, mosaic-clad pavilions around gardens and links them with underground galleries; it served as a working hospital until 2009 and reopened as a cultural and visitor site in 2014 after restoration. Together with the Palau de la Musica Catalana, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

SafetyThe nearby Sagrada Familia and metro line L5 (especially the Sagrada Familia and Sant Pau-Dos de Maig stations) are pickpocket hotspots. On the metro and in crowded queues, wear bags in front and keep zippers closed.
CautionIn ticket queues and on the metro, teams of two are common: one distracts you while the other takes your wallet or phone. Be wary of sudden approaches or questions from strangers.
RulesDuring peak season (Easter, summer) and on free-admission days (23 April Sant Jordi, 24 September La Merce, Night of the Museums) it sells out and gets crowded, so book online in advance after confirming the latest schedule.
SeasonOpening hours are seasonal: roughly 9:30-18:30 (Apr-Oct) and 9:30-17:00 (Nov-Mar), with last entry 30 minutes before closing and closure on 25 December. Confirm the current times on the official site before your visit.
MannersAs a UNESCO site and active exhibition/event venue, keep noise down indoors and follow posted limits on photography, flash and tripods.
Practical info
Metro L5 to Sant Pau-Dos de Maig, then a 3-5 minute walk; buses H8, 19, 47, 117, 192. Allow 1.5-2 hours for a self-guided visit or about 75 minutes for a guided tour. Self-guided adult admission is roughly EUR 17-18 (afternoon and reduced rates apply); guided tours and audio guides cost extra, under-12s are free, but confirm exact prices and conditions before you go.
