Designed by Antoni Gaudí, the Sagrada Família is Barcelona's still-unfinished basilica, under construction since 1882 and one of the world's most iconic landmarks. In February 2026 the central Tower of Jesus Christ (172.5 m) was externally completed, making it the tallest church in the world, a milestone that coincides with the centenary of Gaudí's death. Its soaring spires and luminous stained glass make it Barcelona's most popular sight, so advance booking is effectively essential.

CautionReseller sites that mimic the official one (sagradafamilia.org) often charge far more (e.g., €44 for a €26 ticket) or never deliver tickets. Confirm you have a genuine ticket with a QR code and a specific entry time.
RulesAll tickets are now nominative (name-specific) and require photo ID or a passport. If you miss your timed slot you may be refused entry, so arrive 15–20 minutes early. Verify current prices and hours before you go.
MannersAs a Catholic church there is a dress code: no see-through clothing, swimwear or bare feet; trousers and skirts must reach at least mid-thigh; bare shoulders are not allowed in the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament. Keep quiet inside.
SafetyTower access is by elevator up then a spiral staircase down; for safety no bags or rucksacks are allowed, and it is roughly limited to ages 6–65 and those able to manage the stairs (check current conditions).
SafetyBarcelona has widespread pickpocketing in tourist areas. Around the basilica and on the metro, carry valuables and bags in front of you and stay alert.
SeasonSummer high season, weekends and morning slots get extremely crowded and often sell out. Book 2–4 weeks ahead; early-morning or late-afternoon slots are comparatively calmer.
Practical info
Directly outside the L2/L5 Sagrada Família metro station. Typical hours: Mon–Sat from 09:00, Sun from 10:30 (closing 18:00 in winter, 20:00 in summer — verify latest). Sunday 9 am and Saturday 8 pm mass are free but capacity-limited (Nativity façade entrance on Carrer de la Marina).
