Location

Overview

The National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC) occupies the monumental Palau Nacional on Montjuïc hill, built as the main pavilion for the 1929 International Exhibition, and holds one of the world's finest collections of Romanesque murals. Its galleries span roughly 1,000 years of art — Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque through to Catalan Modernisme. The palace's grand front steps and rooftop terrace are also famous for sweeping views over Barcelona and the Magic Fountain.
