🇹🇼 National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

國立國父紀念館 · 타이베이

Location

Overview

The National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei's Xinyi District was completed in 1972 to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sun Yat-sen (Sun Wen), revered as the founding father of the Republic of China. Set within the roughly 11-hectare Zhongshan (Chungshan) Cultural Park, it is a beloved photo spot with Taipei 101 as a backdrop and a favorite local gathering place. Note, however, that the main hall has been closed since 26 February 2024 for a major renovation slated to finish by Q4 2026, so interior galleries and the honor-guard changing ceremony are currently suspended — confirm the latest status before visiting.

Practical info

Take the MRT Bannan (Blue) Line to 'Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall' station, Exit 4, about a 5-minute walk. It is roughly a 15-minute walk from Taipei 101, easy to combine with a Xinyi District itinerary. Normal hours are 09:00-18:00 (closed on Lunar New Year's Eve/Day and maintenance days), but until the renovation ends only the park is open, so always confirm the latest status.
