🇵🇹 Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal (Jardins do Palácio de Cristal)

Jardins do Palácio de Cristal · 포르투

Location

Overview

A free, roughly 8-hectare municipal garden set on a hilltop in Porto, Portugal, celebrated for panoramic views over the Douro River toward the Arrábida Bridge. The original glass-and-iron 'Crystal Palace,' built for the 1865 International Exhibition, was demolished in 1951 and replaced by the domed arena known today as the Super Bock Arena (Rosa Mota Pavilion); the grounds are famous for peacocks roaming freely. Themed gardens (rose, medicinal, 'feelings'), a lake, a café, a municipal library and the Romantic Museum share the park.

Practical info

Free entry. Hours vary by season (roughly 8:00–21:00 in summer, 8:00–19:00 in winter) — always confirm the latest. Reach it via metro (Carolina Michaelis station) or several bus lines. It gets busy on weekends and at midday, so a weekday early morning or the golden hour before sunset is quieter and best for photos.
