Location

Overview

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is Seoul's neofuturistic landmark, designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid on her 'Metonymic Landscape' concept and opened in March 2014. Its flowing, almost straight-line-free form is clad in some 45,000 aluminum panels, and it rises on the site of the former Dongdaemun Stadium (1925–2007), with excavated Seoul City Wall remains preserved in the adjacent Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. It is a cultural complex of exhibition halls, fashion shows, a design market, and night-view spots, with the outdoor plaza open around the clock.
