🇬🇧 Covent Garden

Covent Garden · 런던 웨스트민스터

Location

Overview

Covent Garden is a historic market-and-piazza district in the heart of London's West End. Once a fruit-and-vegetable wholesale market, it is now one of the city's most popular destinations, mixing handmade-craft markets (the Apple Market and Jubilee Market), daily street performance, the Royal Ballet and Opera, and a lively scene of independent shops and restaurants. The covered piazza hosts licensed street performers carrying on one of Britain's oldest such traditions, and in 2026 the area remains busy year-round. It rewards a relaxed half-day to full-day visit combining shopping, a show and a meal.

Practical info

Covent Garden station (Piccadilly line) is right by the piazza but has lifts only and gets very crowded, so walking from nearby Leicester Square is often quicker. The markets and piazza are open and free at all times, while shops, theatres and museums keep their own hours; always check the latest prices and opening times for paid sites such as the Royal Ballet and Opera and the London Transport Museum on their official websites.
