🇵🇱 Krupówki Street, Zakopane

Krupówki · 자코파네

Location

Overview

Krupówki is the roughly 1.1 km pedestrian promenade running through the heart of Zakopane, Poland's premier Tatra-mountain resort town, and is widely called the town's main artery. Lined with wooden highlander (Zakopane-style) architecture, regional Podhale restaurants and souvenir stalls, it's where you'll find oscypek (smoked sheep's-milk cheese) vendors, horse-drawn carriages and the lower station of the Gubałówka funicular. As of 2026 it remains lively year-round, though the pedestrian underpass linking Krupówki to Gubałówka is aging and is slated for a major 2027–28 overhaul. Come by day for shopping and mountain views, and by evening for a lamp-lit stroll and dinner.

Practical info

Zakopane's train station and bus terminal sit right nearby, roughly 2–2.5 hours from Kraków by bus or train. The street itself is a 24-hour open-air promenade with no admission fee, but individual museums and the Gubałówka funicular (about 37–49 PLN return in 2026, differing online vs. on-site) change prices and hours frequently — please confirm the latest details.
