Yehliu Geopark is a coastal cape park in Wanli District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, where millions of years of waves, wind and marine erosion have carved a landscape of surreal rock formations — mushroom rocks, candle-shaped rocks, tofu rocks and honeycomb rocks. Its most famous feature is the 'Queen's Head' (Nu Wang Tou), a rock resembling a queen's profile whose neck is thinning by natural erosion and may collapse within a decade or two, prompting ongoing preservation efforts. It is one of northern Taiwan's premier attractions and a popular day trip from Taipei.

Good to know
SafetyNever cross the red boundary lines on the trail. This is a wind- and wave-battered coast; a memorial statue honors Mr. Lin Tien-chin, swept out to sea in 1964 while trying to rescue a student — both drowned. Wet rocks are slippery.
SeasonIn summer (April–September) the exposed coastal trail has almost no shade and gets very hot. Bring a hat, umbrella, water and sunscreen. Arrive right at opening or before closing to beat both the heat and the crowds.
SafetyOn days with typhoons, high winds or high waves, access to the narrow isthmus leading to the cape may be restricted or dangerous. Check weather and park operating status before you go.
RulesDrones (aerial cameras) are prohibited. Do not touch or climb the special rock formations inside the red lines, and do not chase or bait wild birds for photos. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times.
CautionThe seafood restaurants just outside the park are often crowded and reported as poor value. Confirm market price and per-weight unit price before ordering, and double-check the bill for live fish or shellfish sold by weight to avoid overcharging.
RulesFees and hours can change, so confirm the latest details. For reference, general adult admission is around NT$120, opening hours are 08:00–17:00, and in summer (July–August) the park is sometimes extended to 09:00–18:00.
Practical info
From Taipei Main Station (East, near Exit 3) take Kuo-Kuang Bus 1815 and alight at 'Yehliu', then walk about 10 minutes. The trip takes roughly 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. EasyCard is accepted. Visit the Queen's Head early in the morning for shorter queues.
