Woljeongri Beach sits on Jeju Island's northeast coast in Gujwa, a small white-sand cove (about 250m long) fronting famously clear, emerald water. A strip of cafes lines the shore, and the seaside chairs some cafes set out facing the ocean have become the beach's signature photo spot. Steady incoming waves also make it one of Jeju's most popular beginner surf beaches.

Good to know
SafetyBlack volcanic (basalt) rocks poke up through the sand in places; you can cut your feet or slip when wading or surfing. Water shoes are strongly recommended.
SafetyThe water is shallow but, as on much of Jeju's coast, rip currents and swells can form. Stay in the marked swimming zone and follow lifeguard guidance.
MannersThe village behind the beach is a working fishing community where haenyeo (women free-divers) still harvest. Keep clear of fishing zones and aquaculture areas, and don't photograph residents at work without consent.
CautionSome 'Instagrammable' cafes have drawn complaints over high minimum orders (one drink per person) or seat/photo rules aimed at photo-only visitors. Check a cafe's ordering and photo policy before sitting down.
SeasonOfficial swimming season with lifeguards typically runs only from late June to late August (dates vary by year). Confirm current opening dates and hours before you go.
RulesThere is free parking, but it fills fast on summer weekends. Avoid illegal roadside parking along the cafe street, which is enforced.
