Location

Overview

Udo (็‰›ๅณถ, meaning "Cow Island") is the largest of Jeju's satellite islands, lying off the coast of Seongsan on Jeju's east side and named for its resemblance to a reclining cow. Reachable by a roughly 15-minute ferry from Seongsan or Jongdal Port, it is a classic day-trip destination packed with the scenery known as the "Eight Views of Udo," including a rare rhodolith white-sand beach, a black-sand beach, and a lighthouse-topped peak. Most visitors loop the island in about three to four hours.

Practical info

Ferry about 15 min from Seongsan or Jongdal Port, roughly every 30 min (varies by season). Fares, schedules, and vehicle-entry rules change, so confirm the latest before booking or visiting. On the island, get around by circular shuttle bus (~8,000 KRW adult day pass), electric car, scooter, or bicycle. Bring a photo ID; a half-day (3-4 hours) is enough to loop the island.
