The Tongyeong Cable Car (officially the Hallyeosudo Viewing Cable Car) is a roughly 1,975 m detachable gondola that climbs Mireuksan (about 461 m) on Mireuk Island in Tongyeong; it was known as Korea's longest cable car when it opened. The 8-person gondolas reach the upper station in about 9-10 minutes, opening up sweeping views over Tongyeong Harbor and the islands of the Hallyeosudo waterway, the historic setting of the Battle of Hansando. It is operated by the Tongyeong Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC).
From the upper station, a wooden deck trail (about 5-15 minutes) links several viewpoints such as Sinseondae, Hansan Battle, Hallyeosudo, and Tongyeong Harbor observatories.
The Mireuksan summit (about 461 m) preserves the site of a Joseon-era beacon fire station (bongsudae), blending history with panoramic views.
On clear days you can see islands of Hallyeo Maritime National Park such as Hansando and Bijindo, and sometimes even Tsushima in the far distance.
A pet-friendly gondola option is reportedly offered, letting visitors ride with their pet (verify latest).
Nearby attractions such as Dipiran near the base station make it easy to combine into a half-day itinerary.
