Todra Gorge (also spelled Todgha Gorge) is a dramatic limestone canyon in the eastern High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, about 15 km from the town of Tinghir. Carved by the Todgha River over millennia, its sheer walls rise more than 300 m while the narrowest stretch shrinks to just 10 m wide, creating one of North Africa's most striking natural corridors. It is world-renowned for rock climbing, and as of 2026 it remains a busy stop for both Moroccan and international travelers, peaking in spring and autumn. Sitting on the route between the Sahara (toward Merzouga) and the Kasbah Road, it makes an ideal day visit.

SeasonBeware of flash floods. Snowmelt in spring and sudden storms can swell the river within minutes, flooding the canyon floor and washing out the access road. If rain is forecast, avoid walking the gorge floor and follow local guidance.
SeasonSummer afternoons are very hot and winter nights are cold; at roughly 1,500 m the floor is chilly at dawn. Spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Nov) are best. Bring water, a hat, sunscreen and a light layer.
SafetyClimb only with proper equipment and a qualified guide. The canyon floor is slippery with gravel and wet rock, so wear supportive footwear and don't linger directly beneath cliffs where rockfall is possible.
CautionUnofficial 'guides' at the gorge and in Tinghir may approach uninvited and expect commission for shops, parking or photos. Decline politely if you don't want the service, and agree a clear price up front for anything you do want.
MannersThis is a conservative Berber area. Modest dress covering shoulders and knees is appropriate, and you should always ask permission before photographing local residents or nomads.
RulesKorean passport holders can enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days as tourists (passport valid at least 6 months, onward/return ticket advisable). Walking the gorge road is generally free, but parking, café and guide fees may apply — confirm the latest prices on site.
Practical info
There is no train; reach Tinghir by CTM or Supratours long-distance bus (roughly 8–9 h from Marrakech, 3–4 h from Ouarzazate, 4–5 h from Merzouga), then take a grand taxi from Tinghir (shared ~20–30 MAD, private ~80–120 MAD) for the 15–20 minute ride into the gorge. Walking the canyon floor is generally free, but climbing, guide and parking fees plus bus timetables change, so verify the latest details before you go.
