Perched atop Mount Tibidabo (about 512m), the highest hill overlooking Barcelona, the Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor (Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) is a Roman Catholic minor basilica built between 1902 and 1961 by architect Enric Sagnier and his son. A fortress-like Neo-Byzantine crypt is topped by a soaring Neo-Gothic upper church, crowned by a gilded bronze statue of the Sacred Heart that watches over the city. Visitors come as much for the sweeping panoramas of Barcelona, the Mediterranean and the Collserola hills as for the church and the adjacent Tibidabo amusement park.

RulesThe central-tower viewpoint (lift or stairs) is paid. Entry to the main church and crypt is free, but quoted lift prices vary widely across sources (roughly EUR 3-8), so confirm the current fare on-site or on the official site.
MannersThere is no strict dress code, but this is a place of worship: cover your shoulders and avoid very short shorts or sleeveless tops. Stay quiet during Mass and religious services, and men are asked to remove hats.
SeasonThe church viewpoint and the adjacent amusement park do NOT open every day; opening days and hours vary sharply by season (mostly weekends in winter, closed 25-26 Dec, etc.). Check the official calendar for up-to-date days and times before you go.
SafetyWatch for pickpockets in crowded spots — busy viewpoints, the funicular, public transport and the Plaça de Catalunya boarding point. Wear bags in front and keep valuables separated and secured.
RulesSummit parking is very limited and fills quickly on weekends and in peak season. Public transport (Tibibus or funicular) is recommended over driving, and booking transport tickets in advance in high season helps avoid long queues.
Practical info
The Tibibus (T2A) from Plaça de Catalunya runs straight to the summit; the FGC + Cuca de Llum funicular route is also popular. The Blue Tram (Tramvia Blau) has been suspended for restoration, so check whether it is running. The main church and crypt are free; the viewpoint is paid — verify opening days and fares on official sources before visiting.
