🇨🇳 Tianmen Mountain (Tianmenshan)

天门山 · 장자제

Location

Overview

Tianmen Mountain (Tianmenshan) rises to roughly 1,500m in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, China, famous for Tianmen Cave, a colossal natural arch pierced through the cliff, plus one of the world's longest cable cars and cliffside glass skywalks. Visitors reach the summit via a mix of cableway, shuttle bus, and the 99-bend mountain road, then take in dizzying views from transparent walkways clinging to the rock face. With fog on more than 200 days a year, a clear day makes a huge difference to the experience.

Practical info

Easily reached from downtown Zhangjiajie, it suits a half- to full-day trip. Prices, hours, and cableway status change often, so confirm on the official Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park site, and be ready for a small paid shoe-cover fee for the glass walkways. Booking and payment are largely mobile/online-based.
