Sunway Lagoon is one of Malaysia's flagship multi-park destinations, located in Sunway City in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, just outside Kuala Lumpur. Spread across several zones, it packs more than 80 attractions, including a Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park, Scream Park and Asia's first Nickelodeon-themed area. Its enormous surf/wave pool and easy access from the city make it a popular full-day family outing.

Good to know
SeasonMalaysia's tropical climate brings frequent afternoon showers and thunderstorms; outdoor rides close during lightning. Arrive early in the morning to enjoy water rides before rain rolls in.
RulesOn water slides, clothing with zippers, buttons or metal rivets is banned — wear proper swimwear or a rash vest in smooth fabric. Scream Park enforces a strict 'no wet clothes' rule, so bring a dry change and closed-toe shoes.
SafetyChildren must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and most rides have height (e.g. around 110 cm+) and weight limits. The wave pool has strong waves and varying depth — follow lifeguard instructions and never leave kids unattended.
CautionThe main risk is getting there, not the park itself. Standard red-and-white taxis often refuse the meter and overcharge tourists; use the Grab app instead for fixed pricing and a tracked route.
MannersWeekends, public holidays and school breaks (especially mid-year and year-end) get very crowded. The park normally closes on Tuesdays except during Malaysian school or public holidays, so check the day and operating status before you go.
Practical info
About a 30-minute drive from central Kuala Lumpur (15 min in light traffic); connected via the BRT Sunway Line 'Sunway Lagoon' station. The park is cashless and allows only one bottle of plain water (no outside food, alcohol or glass). Paid lockers for valuables (roughly RM25–45). Confirm ticket prices, opening hours and closure days on the official site before your visit.
