Sunshine City is a large complex in Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo, built around the Sunshine 60 skyscraper (opened 1978) and combining an observatory (Tenbou Park), aquarium, planetarium and shopping mall. Directly across from it, Otome Road is a roughly 200-meter street known as a haven for female anime and manga fans, lined with shops for anime goods, doujinshi and BL merchandise plus concept cafes such as butler cafes. Together they form one of Tokyo's leading anime and subculture districts, often mentioned alongside Akihabara.

RulesPhotography inside the anime shops along Otome Road (Animate, Mandarake, K-Books and others) is generally prohibited. Check store signage before photographing goods or displays.
MannersWhen photographing cosplayers, always ask permission first and let them pose. Do not shoot secretly, zoom in, or touch a costume or prop without consent.
MannersOtome Road and Sunshine Street are busy shopping streets. Don't stop to take photos in ways that block the sidewalk or shop entrances, and keep the flow of foot traffic moving.
SeasonWeekends, holidays and event periods get very crowded with local shoppers, families and fans. For a calmer visit, a weekday morning is best.
RulesTax-free shopping (e.g. at Bic Camera) requires your physical passport. Fees, opening hours and event schedules change, so confirm the latest details on official sites before visiting.
