Suncheon Bay Wetland is a vast coastal ecosystem of tidal flats fringed by Korea's largest reed beds, ranking among the world's top five coastal wetlands and drawing roughly 200 bird species, including hooded cranes and black-faced spoonbills. It became Korea's first Ramsar-registered coastal wetland in 2006 and, in 2021, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of 'Getbol, Korean Tidal Flats.' It is best known for the golden sunset over its S-shaped waterway and the sweeping reed fields.

RulesA wetland ticket does NOT admit you to Suncheon Bay National Garden, though a Garden ticket does cover the wetland. Choose your ticket to match your route (verify current fees and policy before visiting).
SeasonHours are seasonal: ticket sales end at 17:00 in Nov-Feb, 18:00 in Mar-Apr and Sep-Oct, and 19:00 in May-Aug. Arrive early in winter when the day closes soonest.
SafetyMuch of the route is open wetland and boardwalk; the lamps switch off at closing and it gets very dark. After watching the sunset, head back before nightfall.
MannersThis is an active habitat and wintering site for wild birds. Avoid loud noises or sudden movements, and keep your distance when watching or photographing them.
RulesThe mudflats and reeds are protected. Stay on the designated trails, do not walk onto the flats or break reeds, and check the rules before flying any drone.
SeasonThere is little shade and the coastal wind is strong. Bring sun protection and insect repellent in summer, and windproof layers and a hat in winter.
Practical info
Open from 08:00; last ticket sales vary by season (17:00 winter, 18:00 spring/autumn, 19:00 summer). Closed the last Monday of each month. Admission is roughly 10,000 won for adults, 7,000 for teens, 5,000 for children, with group discounts for 20+ (confirm fees and closures before your visit). Reachable by local bus from Suncheon Station or the intercity bus terminal; it lies about 7 km from the National Garden, linked by the Sky Cube personal rapid transit.
