Sultan Mosque (Masjid Sultan) is Singapore's most iconic mosque and a National Monument, standing at the heart of the historic Kampong Glam quarter. First built in the 1820s in honour of Sultan Hussein Shah of Johor and rebuilt in 1932 in the Indo-Saracenic style, it is crowned by two golden onion-shaped domes and holds a prayer hall for roughly 5,000 worshippers. Non-Muslim visitors are warmly welcomed, free of charge, outside of prayer hours.

MannersStrict dress code: shoulders and knees must be covered (no shorts or sleeveless tops for men); women are encouraged to cover their hair. Free robes are lent at the entrance if you're underdressed, but stock is limited — wear modest clothing to be safe.
RulesRemove footwear before entering, and use only the designated main entrance (facing Bussorah Mall). No flash photography toward worshippers, and keep quiet and respectful in the prayer areas.
RulesClosed to tourists during the five daily prayers. Visiting is typically Sat–Thu 10:00–12:00 and 14:00–16:00, and Fri only 14:30–16:00 due to congregational prayers (verify current times). Friday midday is a common wasted trip.
CautionSingapore has few outright scams, but in the surrounding Arab Street / Haji Lane shops watch for tourist-zone overpricing. Beware vendors who offer a taste or try-on without stating a price, then quote an inflated one (e.g. durian) — always confirm the price first.
SafetyUse official taxis or the Grab app; don't engage unofficial touts who offer to 'guide' you. Confirm fares by meter or in-app pricing.

Free entry (donations welcome). Walkable from Bugis or Nicoll Highway MRT. Visiting hours shift often around prayers and Friday congregational prayer, so check the board at the entrance or the official website before you go. Advance registration is recommended for the free guided tour.
