Located in Vatican City, St. Peter's Basilica is one of the largest churches in Christendom and a pilgrimage hub built over the tomb of the Apostle Peter. A masterpiece of Renaissance and Baroque architecture crowned by Michelangelo's colossal dome and framed by Bernini's square, it is free to enter but everyone must pass mandatory security screening.

Free entry (security screening required). The basilica is generally open roughly 07:00–19:00 (Apr–Sep) and 07:00–18:30 (Oct–Mar). Dome climb costs about €10 stairs / €15 lift+stairs at the on-site kiosk (€17 / €22 online) — confirm current prices and hours on the official site before your visit. The dome climb is not advised for those with heart or respiratory conditions, vertigo, claustrophobia, or for pregnant women.
