Overview

St. Moritz is a world-famous luxury Alpine resort in the Upper Engadine valley of Graubünden, southeastern Switzerland, sitting at about 1,856 m above sea level. It is the birthplace of Alpine winter tourism (1864) and a two-time Winter Olympic host (1928 and 1948), renowned for events staged on its frozen lake and for cable cars and mountain railways that climb to peaks above 3,000 m. As of 2026 it remains a year-round destination, pairing winter skiing and spa culture with summer hiking and lake sports amid dramatic scenery and a jet-set social scene.
