🇧🇪 Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula

Cathédrale Saints-Michel-et-Gudule / Sint-Michiels- en Sint-Goedelekathedraal · 브뤼셀

Location

Overview

Rising in the heart of Brussels, this is Belgium's national cathedral, a masterpiece of Brabantine Gothic built from white Gobertange stone. Begun in 1226, it hosts royal weddings, state funerals and the annual Te Deum on the national holiday, and is famed for its spire-less 64-metre twin towers and its luminous 16th-century stained glass. In 2026 it marks its 800th anniversary (Gudula26) with special liturgies and cultural events — visit it as a living, working church, exploring quietly and respectfully.
