Songgwangsa (松廣寺) is a thousand-year-old temple on the western slope of Mt. Jogyesan in Suncheon, South Jeolla. Together with Tongdosa (the Buddha jewel) and Haeinsa (the Dharma jewel), it is one of Korea's Three Jewel Temples, representing the Sangha (the monastic community). Revived by the great Seon master Jinul in the late 12th century, it produced 16 National Preceptors and remains an active Jogye Order meditation monastery; it was inscribed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage 'Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea' in 2018.
