Singapore Zoo is an award-winning, open-concept rainforest zoo in the northern Mandai area, where natural moats and lush landscaping replace bars and cages for a strong sense of openness. It is famous for the world's first free-ranging orangutan habitat, and home to more than 300 species including elephants, giraffes and white tigers, making it a favorite for families. Together with the neighboring Night Safari, River Wonders and Bird Paradise, it forms the Mandai Wildlife Reserve.

SeasonThe equatorial climate brings intense midday heat and high humidity, and the November-to-January wet season sees frequent sudden downpours. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water plus an umbrella or poncho, and aim for an early-morning visit when animals are most active.
RulesAside from the official paid feeding sessions, feeding animals on your own is prohibited, and Singapore can fine unauthorized feeding of wildlife up to S$5,000. Do not show or offer food to free-roaming animals such as monkeys.
RulesSingapore imposes heavy fines for littering, importing or chewing gum, and flying drones without a permit. Recreational drones are not allowed inside the park, and all trash must go in bins (confirm current rules on site or the official site).
CautionUnlicensed taxis or touts without a proper meter near the zoo or in the city may overcharge you. Use official ride-hailing apps like Grab, a licensed metered taxi, or the official shuttle only.
SafetyThe grounds are large and involve a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated; keep a firm hold of children in free-ranging areas and when boarding or leaving the tram.
MannersTo reduce stress on the animals, do not tap on glass or enclosures and avoid flash photography; be considerate at trams and shows by not blocking front rows or being loud.

Hours are generally 08:30-18:00 (last entry around 17:00) but may vary by season, so check the official site before visiting. By public transport, take the Mandai shuttle from Khatib MRT, or bus 138 from Springleaf MRT. Prices, hours and feeding/show schedules all require latest confirmation.
