Seongeup Folk Village is a living traditional village in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, on Jeju Island, once the seat of Jeongui-hyeon county during the Joseon era (1410–1914). Black basalt stone walls, thatched-roof houses, and narrow lanes preserve the look of old Jeju, and the village and several of its houses are designated National Folklore Cultural Heritage. It has been continuously inhabited for roughly 600 years and remains a real neighborhood where residents still live today.

CautionMultiple visitors report that some houses near the entrance offer a 'free' tasting or demo of omija tea, horse-bone pills, or horse-oil cream and then push hard for a purchase. It is fine to decline; politely say no and move on if you feel pressured.
MannersThis is a real village where people live. Do not enter private courtyards or peer into windows and doors, and ask permission before photographing residents or their homes.
RulesAs a designated National Folklore Cultural Heritage site, do not damage or climb on stone walls, thatched roofs, monuments, or trees. Stick to the visitor paths.
SafetyAlleys between stone walls and courtyard ground can be uneven and slippery. Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and watch your footing, especially after rain.
SeasonThe open village has little shade: summers bring strong heat and sun, while winter winds make it feel much colder. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable for walking.

Admission is free, and free guided tours by residents or cultural docents (Korean, English, and more) are available. Confirm opening hours, tour reservations, and parking via the official Jeju/Seogwipo tourism sites before visiting. Reachable by bus from the Pyoseon/Seogwipo area.
