Sanganeb is a ring-shaped coral atoll off Port Sudan, with a lighthouse built by the British in 1958 standing at its center. In 2016 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list together with the nearby Dungonab BayโMukkawar Island Marine National Park. Its walls form a sheer drop-off plunging past 800m, and it holds an unusually high density of large fish for the southern Red Sea. It is a remote site reachable only by liveaboard.
