🇵🇹 Sanctuary of Fátima (Santuário de Fátima)

Santuário de Fátima · 오렝 (Ourém)

Location

Overview

The Sanctuary of Fátima is one of the largest Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world, built where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. Centered on the Chapel of the Apparitions, the complex includes the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, the modern Basilica of the Holy Trinity, and a vast esplanade that holds around 300,000 people. Even for non-religious travelers, its sheer scale and the devotion of the pilgrims are deeply moving.
