The Euromast is Rotterdam's iconic 185-metre observation tower, designed by architect Hugh Maaskant and opened in 1960 for the Floriade horticultural exhibition. In 1970 the Space Tower was added along with the rotating glass-floored 'Euroscoop' lift, giving it its present height; a listed national monument since 2010, it is the tallest publicly accessible observation tower in the Netherlands. From the top you take in a sweeping panorama of the harbour, the River Maas and the Erasmus Bridge, making it a signature stop for exploring this modern port city. Note that from 5 January to early April 2026 the tower is closed for major maintenance and renovation, so check timing before you go.

SeasonThe Euromast is closed from 5 January until early April 2026 for large-scale maintenance and renovation. If you are visiting Rotterdam in this window, confirm the reopening date on the official site before planning a trip up.
RulesThe 185 m glass-floor Euroscoop requires a higher-tier ticket on top of standard platform admission. Booking online in advance is cheaper and secures your entry slot, so reserve ahead (prices and hours: verify the latest before you go).
SafetyAt height the platforms are windy and noticeably colder than street level, even in summer - bring a light jacket or windbreaker. Abseiling and other activities are weather-dependent and carry age and health restrictions.
CautionWatch for pickpockets in the surrounding park and on busy trams and the metro. Keep your wallet and passport in a front pocket, and keep contactless cards separated rather than stacked together.
MannersTipping is not obligatory in the Netherlands. If service at the restaurant was good, rounding up by roughly 5-10% is appreciated but never expected or demanded.
RulesRotterdam public transport uses OVpay tap-in/tap-out with a contactless card or mobile wallet. Always tap on boarding and again when you leave until it beeps, and present only the card you intend to use so the reader doesn't charge the wrong one.
