Renggis Island (Pulau Renggis) is a small uninhabited islet just a few hundred metres off Tioman's west coast, sitting directly in front of the Berjaya Tioman Resort jetty — widely rated the island's best and most accessible snorkeling spot. A shallow, healthy staghorn and hard-coral reef rings the island, teeming with parrotfish, butterflyfish and clownfish, and it is famous for resident harmless blacktip reef sharks and green turtles that show up regularly. Snorkeling depths run roughly 1–6 m over calm water with generally weak currents, making it ideal for beginners and families, and visibility in season is usually 8–20 m (over 20 m on clear days). As of 2026 it remains the headline stop on the resort's morning and afternoon boat trips, though access is limited during the November–February northeast monsoon.

Good to know
SafetyThis is a busy spot right by the resort jetty, with dive and snorkel boats coming and going all day. Stay over the shallow reef and out of boat lanes, and always tow a highly visible buoy or float.
SafetyCurrents are usually light, but the outer and far side of the islet can push you toward open water. Don't snorkel alone — buddy up — and if a foggy mask or nerves trigger panic, hold your float and slow your breathing.
SafetySea urchins, stonefish, lionfish and fire coral hide among the reef and can sting or spike you. Never plant your hands or feet on the bottom or coral, and avoid all contact. Even in shallow water, long sessions can bring on chill and fatigue — wear a rash guard and take breaks.
RulesThe islet lies inside Tioman Marine Park, so you must pay the conservation fee (around RM30 for foreign adults) at the Marine Park Centre near Tekek jetty. Confirm the current amount and payment point before you go.
MannersDon't stand on, touch or break the coral — mind your fin kicks and buoyancy. Keep a respectful distance from turtles and sharks and never feed them. Use reef-safe sunscreen.
SeasonMarch–October is the prime season, with water at 28–30°C. During the November–February northeast monsoon, rough seas shut down or scale back boats and resorts. Weekends and school holidays book out fast, so reserve ahead.
