🇹🇼 Rainbow Village (Caihong Juancun)

彩虹眷村 · 타이중(Taichung)

Location

Overview

Rainbow Village (Caihong Juancun) is a former military dependents' village in Taichung's Nantun District, with walls and pavements covered end to end in vividly colored hand-painted murals. It began when resident Huang Yung-fu, affectionately known as 'Rainbow Grandpa,' started painting to save the village from demolition, and its fairytale colors and moving backstory have made it a globally popular photo spot. It is small but free to enter, making it an easy add-on to any Taichung itinerary.
