Pier-2 Art Center (駁二藝術特區) is a large arts district on the harbor front in Yancheng, Kaohsiung, in southern Taiwan. Since 2006 a cluster of disused shipping warehouses has been converted into galleries, studios, cafes, shops and live-music venues, and it is known for bold street art, container installations and giant robot sculptures. The outdoor grounds are free to wander.

SeasonJune to September is hot, humid and the typhoon season. The outdoor warehouse grounds are large, so bring a hat, water and sunscreen in summer, and have a backup plan if a typhoon or heavy-rain warning is issued.
CautionSome taxis (at the airport, stations or on the street) refuse the meter and quote inflated flat fares (e.g. NT$500–800 for an NT$200 trip). Ask for the meter ('yong biao'), use Uber or the Taiwan Taxi app, and prefer official taxi ranks over hailing on the street.
RulesThe outdoor grounds are free, but special exhibitions, museums (such as the Hamasen railway museum) and workshops charge admission; fees and opening hours change often, so confirm the latest details on the official site before visiting.
MannersTipping is not customary in Taiwan—no need to tip taxis, hotel staff or restaurants. Inside galleries and museums, keep noise down and follow photography rules.
SafetyThe light rail runs through the district at street level, so don't stand on the tracks while taking photos. If you rent a bike or e-scooter, ride slowly in crowded pedestrian areas.

Outdoor grounds are free (special exhibitions, museums and workshops are paid; confirm fees and hours locally). Opening hours vary by day of the week (roughly 10:00 to 18:00/20:00/22:00), so check the official website before you go. Reach it via Kaohsiung MRT Orange Line (Yanchengpu) or the Light Rail; pay for transit with an iPASS/EasyCard. Allow 2–4 hours; renting a YouBike is recommended.
