Overview

A UNESCO World Heritage Site in Quảng Bình Province, central Vietnam, this national park protects one of Southeast Asia's finest complex karst landscapes and more than 300 caves. It is home to Sơn Đoòng, reputedly the world's largest cave, alongside Paradise Cave, Phong Nha Cave and the adventure-focused Dark Cave, all set amid vast pristine jungle. Visitors reach many caves by river boat and can add activities like ziplining and underground mud baths.

Practical info

Đồng Hới (about 40 km away) is the gateway: ~8-10 hrs by train from Hanoi, ~2.5-3.5 hrs from Hue, and there's a Đồng Hới airport. From Đồng Hới, reach Phong Nha by local bus (~35,000 VND), taxi (~400,000 VND, about 1 hr) or private car. Confirm prices and times before travel.
