Ojo Caliente in New Mexico is a distinctive hot springs site with several separate mineral pools, each drawing from a spring with a different composition — iron, lithia (lithium), soda, and arsenic. The site has been used as a healing place by the Tewa Pueblo people for centuries, and the bathhouse that opened in 1868 is considered one of the oldest hot springs resorts in the United States. Because temperature and mineral content vary by pool, visitors typically move between them in sequence. It's about an hour's drive from Santa Fe.
