Ohori Park is a large water-centered park in the heart of Fukuoka, opened in 1929 on what was once the outer moat of Fukuoka Castle. Its roughly 400,000-square-meter grounds surround a big pond, with three islands linked by graceful stone bridges and an approximately 2 km path popular for strolling and jogging. A nationally designated place of scenic beauty, most of the park is open 24 hours and free to enter.

MannersThe loop path has separate lanes — inner for runners, center for walkers, outer for cyclists. Most people go counterclockwise; give a brief signal when overtaking.
RulesPaid or dedicated facilities such as the Japanese Garden and the art museum are often closed on Mondays. Check current hours and fees before you go.
SeasonFrom November to March, migratory birds from Siberia and elsewhere gather on the pond. Do not feed them or crowd them.
SeasonDuring cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and the neighboring Maizuru Park festival, the area gets very crowded. Visit early in the day.
SafetySome sections of the pond edge have low or no railings. Take extra care near the water if you're with children or pets.
MannersBoat rentals depend on weather and set hours (roughly 10:00 until one hour before sunset) and may close early — check on-site signage.
Practical info
About a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Ohori-koen Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Kuko (Airport) Line. Most of the park is open 24 hours and free. The Japanese Garden is generally 9:00–17:00 (to 18:00 May–Sep), closed Mondays, around ¥250 adults / ¥120 under 15. Boats: swan boat about ¥1,100 (30 min, up to 4 people), rowboat about ¥600 (30 min). Confirm the latest fees and hours before visiting.
