Overview
Naksan Park sits on the ridge of Naksan (historically Naktasan), one of the four inner mountains of old Seoul, in Jongno-gu. Along its crest runs the Naksan section of the Seoul City Wall (Hanyangdoseong), first built from 1396 under King Taejo of Joseon. Walking beside the ancient wall gives sweeping views over downtown Seoul toward Namsan and N Seoul Tower, making it one of the city's favorite spots for night views and easy strolls; the Ihwa Mural Village lies just inside the wall.

Good to know
MannersIhwa Mural Village just inside the wall is a real residential neighborhood, home to many elderly locals. Frustrated by noise, litter and constant photos, residents painted over famous murals (such as the flower staircase) in 2016. Keep your voice down and do not photograph into homes or open doorways; 'quiet' signs are posted for a reason.
SafetyClimbing up from the Dongdaemun side is a long, steep uphill of slopes and stairs. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and avoid over-exerting on hot summer afternoons.
SafetyIt is a busy night-view spot, but parts of the wall path are dimly lit with uneven footing. After dark, watch your step and stick to the well-lit main route.
SeasonStone steps and the slopes beside the wall can be slippery in winter or after rain or snow. Summers are humid with little shade, so carry water, a hat, and sun protection.
Practical info
The park is open 24 hours with free admission; some facilities such as the Naksan Exhibition Hall run roughly 09:00 to 17:00 (confirm current hours before visiting). Access is about a 10-minute walk from Hyehwa Station (Subway Line 4, Exit 2), or you can climb along the wall from the Dongdaemun Station side (Lines 1 and 4).
