Good to know
SafetyThe long, open beach can develop waves and rip currents, and the public stretch has no permanent lifeguards. After rain or when surf is up, swim only in areas locals point out (e.g. near the volleyball nets); if caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore to escape rather than against it.
CautionEl Nido tricycle and van drivers commonly quote tourists several times the fair rate. Agree on the destination and price before you get in, and check current round-trip shuttle-van and tricycle rates in advance so you can bargain.
RulesThere's no beach entrance fee, but you may pay a small parking fee (around ₱20 for a motorbike) plus any facility or food costs. Prices change, so confirm the latest on-site.
SeasonThe best time to swim is the calm dry season (November-May). In the wet season surf gets rougher and the final access road can turn rough, so plan your transport and timing accordingly.
MannersFacilities on the public beach (toilets, shops) are limited. Pack out your trash, bring water, sunscreen and cash, and avoid damaging the natural surroundings.
Practical info
From El Nido town, reach it by shuttle van (about ₱600 round trip), tricycle (about ₱800 one way), or rented motorbike (about ₱400-600/day). The last stretch of access road can be rough; bring cash, water and sunscreen, and confirm current fares.
