Nabana no Sato is a large flower theme park within Nagashima Resort in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, famous for its seasonal flowers and one of Japan's largest winter illuminations. The indoor Begonia Garden displays roughly 12,000 blooms year-round, while the illumination event—typically running from mid-October to late May—draws huge crowds. Its signature sights are a roughly 200-meter Tunnel of Light and a giant main display whose theme changes every year.

SeasonThe winter illumination runs only for a set season, roughly mid-October to late May (e.g. 18 Oct 2025 – 31 May 2026). What you can see varies greatly by date, so always check the latest official schedule before visiting.
SeasonThe light-on time shifts by season—roughly around 17:00 (Nov–early Jan), 17:30 (mid-Jan–early Feb), and 18:00 (from mid-Feb). Arriving before sunset lets you enjoy the daytime gardens as well.
RulesAdmission fees, opening hours and closure days change by season and date. The Christmas period (roughly Dec 23–25) requires a date-specified special ticket at a much higher price, so confirm the latest details before you go.
SafetyCrowds surge just before the lights turn on and on weekends and holidays. People bunch up at the Tunnel of Light entrance—watch for pushing and stumbling, and keep a firm hold on children and strollers.
MannersThe Tunnel of Light and main display attract heavy photo traffic. Stopping in the middle of the path for long photo sessions causes congestion; step to the side and keep shots brief so you don't block the flow.
SafetyWinter evenings get very cold and viewing is largely outdoors for long stretches. Dress warmly, and check the last bus back to Nagoya (around 21:05) in advance so you don't miss it.
Practical info
About 40 min by direct Meitetsu bus from Nagoya Station, or about 10 min by local bus from Kintetsu Kuwana Station. Free parking for roughly 5,700 cars. To avoid ticket-line waits (30+ min) in peak season, buy in advance at convenience stores. Admission usually includes a voucher worth about ¥1,000 to spend inside.
