My Khe Beach (Bãi biển Mỹ Khê) is a long stretch of soft white sand running along Vo Nguyen Giap Street in the Son Tra area of Da Nang, about 3 km from the city center and a 15-minute drive from the international airport. Its fine sand, gentle slope, and relatively calm surf make it one of Da Nang's most popular beaches for swimming and water sports such as surfing and stand-up paddleboarding. The beach is free to enter, with paid sun loungers and a row of beachside cafes and bars.

If caught in a rip current, do not swim against it - swim parallel to the shore to escape, then head in.
RulesSwimming has designated hours and areas. It is typically permitted from around 5 AM to 8 PM in lifeguard-supervised zones (confirm current hours and rules locally). Avoid swimming outside the designated areas.
SeasonDuring the wet season (roughly September-December, especially October-November), high waves and strong currents often lead to swimming restrictions, and storms are possible. The dry season (roughly April-August) offers the calmest, clearest water - check weather and surf conditions before you go.
SeasonJellyfish can appear in the summer months. Stings are usually mild; if stung, gently rinse the area with seawater (do not rub). Seek help from a lifeguard or clinic if symptoms are severe.
CautionWatch for taxi and motorbike-taxi (xe om) overcharging, especially along the beach strip and near the Dragon Bridge, where drivers may quote 20,000-30,000 VND then demand 150,000-300,000 VND on arrival, claiming the price was per kilometer, per person, or one-way. Use apps like Grab, Be, or Xanh SM, or metered Mai Linh (green) or Vinasun (white) taxis, and confirm the app fare or meter before departing.
CautionAt Da Nang airport, unlicensed drivers may pose as 'Grab' drivers and charge 3-5 times the app rate; always verify the license plate against your app booking. Some vendors have also been known to surround solo travelers - decline firmly if you are not interested.

Free public beach. Sun lounger with umbrella rental is roughly 40,000-50,000 VND (half-day; varies by spot and operator) - confirm current prices locally. Cash (Vietnamese dong) is easiest; bring sunscreen, a hat, and water for the strong sun.
