Location

Overview

Mount Kenya is Africa's second-highest mountain (its true summit, Batian, reaches 5,199m), but Batian and Nelion require roped rock climbing to reach. The third peak, Point Lenana (4,985m), can be walked to without ropes, making it the goal for most trekkers. A popular route ascends via the Sirimon route and descends via the Naro Moru route, acclimatizing at camps such as Mackinder's or Shipton's over a 4-5 day itinerary.
